Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read my story. My name is Sauerkraut, and I am a rescue kitty. My human mom and dad were foster parents for the Central Oklahoma Humane Society. They've fostered more kittens then they could count, but none like me!
I was pulled from our local animal shelter by the great folks at OK Humane. They knew I was special and there was no way they could leave me there! My mom was ready for another group of foster babies and I met her on January 19th, 2014. I came with three other kittens who were around the same age as I was, but we were not related.
My mom knew right off how special I was! I may have looked like a crabby baby, but I'm actually very friendly. I love snuggles and my mom couldn't get anything done with me around! I wanted her to hold me all the time. Well, all those snuggles paid off for me, because when the time came for my spay surgery, she adopted me! She started taking pictures of me and posting them to her Facebook account and boy, did things get crazy! She finally made me my OWN Facebook and Instagram pages!
Some people wonder about the clothes I wear much of the time. I have a neurological disorder called feline hyperesthesia, which is an abnormal increase in the sensitivity to different stimuli. Wearing clothes for me is similar to a comfort shirt for dogs or swaddling a baby. One treatment for the disorder is anti-anxiety medication, but because I also have a heart murmur, it's better to go with the clothing, which keeps me from over-grooming or scratching myself to the point of injury. Plus, I do look devilishly stylish, don't you think?
When I grow up, I want to be an ambassador for rescued kitties. Everyone deserves a warm home and snuggles and there are way too many kitties like me in the shelters.
